I do not write a lot of reviews but reading some of the other negative reviews on here that seem to pop right up when I hit this book..... really pissed me off enough to write!!! I am constantly looking for new stories and discovering new authors and I lucked out when I found this series. I was hooked from the first couple of chapters. I love books that have adults finally coming together after been in love since they were kids. It's called romance people...and if you don't like it then maybe you should try another genre. I was emotionally drawn in and invested to these 2 people and then their extended family. It broke my heart at times and made me laugh my ass off in others. Every book isn't for everyone and I get that, but to rip into this book and this author is in bad taste in my opinion. This author, thankfully I know has won over more loving fans than ones that harshly criticized this book. And like me are anxiously awaiting the 3rd book to this series at this very moment. I have recommended this series and shared it with many co workers who also appreciate wonderful and heart squeezing romance. We want the love, the pain, the tears and the hot scenes when they do get together. And yes some women out here in America do enjoy the steamy love scenes. This was a beautiful love story of two people overcoming heartache and fear and learn to be strong enough and believe enough in their love to get through the obstacles that come their way. I highly recommend Theresa Marguerite Hewitt and this series. If you don't like a book and feel the need to give a 1 star negative review...just make it simple and to the point and not make it so ridiculously harsh. Not only can offend the author but also to her many, many, many adoring fans...also I'm sure I have made many typos in here that may offend you people...but oh well..sometime that happens when you have so much passion behind what you write!!!!

I downloaded this book free from and decided to give it a whirl. I'm very happy I did too because I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't imagine what the wives/husbands feel when they watch their spouse leave them never knowing of their fate. It's heart breaking. It's hard for our family when my cousin leaves so I could only imagine the turmoil they feel. With that being said on with my thoughts.

With every page I wanted to know more. I was curious as to where the story would lead and WOOHOOO it went right where I wanted it to.

To know the life of Rhea what she suffered from a father she loved to a man she hated, to lose her brother Ryan, he protector and to watch her mom spiral out of control and have to drop out of law school to take care of her mom when she was doing so well was heart wrenching.

Rhea is strong willed, even when she is broken she does what must be done and she does have moments of breakdowns but who could ever blame her?

Chadwick Payne, Ryan's best friend and Rheas love since she was five, even if he didn't know it. And he has been I love with Rhea since he was 15. They were together one night at a party and declared their love to one another, and it happened again but they never professed their true feelings or made anything official. Darn them. It was obvious they are made for each other, he is as protective of her as Ryan and loves her as much.

To know how long Chad has loved Rhea and how long Rhea has loved Chad and they finally get it together and lay all of their feelings out was awesome. Made me...happy and content.

I laughed, smiled a lot, got a little chocked up and yes I did cry a little, but I couldn't help it hearing their goodbye killed me. Dana is awesome and sweet. Kendall is crazy and I'm so happy she decided to give Harlow a chance. That makes me smile.

A story of love, loss, mistakes, longing, friendships, and happiness.
I honestly am not a fan of military-involved love story, but this book is free so got it anyway. I didn't regret it.

The book was filled with emotions from all of the characters, not just from the leads. The author was able to weave a very tight love story. My heart goes out to Rhea for staying strong as much as she could. From the death of her brother, taking care of her mother as she grieved, and eventually succumbing to death as well. She was left with no family since her no-good father was better off locked in prison than make his presence known to her. Of course, I am not happy that she acted as a cry baby most of time.

The book promised a hope of HEA ending in the next book. Something that Rhea and Chad deserve. I purchased it already because I cannot wait to know what happens next.

I recommend this book to those who don't mind some boring moments. Though the story can still make you feel at edge in a very emotional way with all the drama of feeling with Rhea knowing the inevitable parting (although hopefully temporary) is just around the corner. Not knowing if they will be able to see the future together.
